I have a wonderful story to tell. It happened just a few days ago, on Monday, April 28th.
Mom and I went grocery shopping after lunch. When we were finished, we went to the craft store to pick something up. We were about to pay at the cash register, when Mom suddenly realized her wallet wasn’t in her purse.
Fear gripped my heart, and Mom was upset. Suddenly I knew…it was those two punks behind us in the grocery store. They took the wallet while Mom was off getting whipping cream, Dad was loading the groceries onto the conveyor belt, and I was hurriedly packing the groceries in bags. The store was a madhouse.
My mind was in a scramble as the two of us walked down to the parking garage to find Dad and then back up again. He was waiting in the car near the store. Mom told Dad that her wallet was missing, and then we quickly drove back to the grocery store. Mom and Dad went in to inquire if any wallets had been found, but I stayed in the car. “Dear Lord, this can’t be happening,” I prayed, “please intervene.”
I kept praying until Mom and Dad returned. Nothing. We drove home, Dad almost speeding. He immediately called to block the credit cards as soon as we got into the house. Mom cried, and I hugged her. What a mess! Obviously the devil was trying to get us angry, distracted, and upset because of the conference this week. He isn't happy that we are working against him.
Soon Dad came downstairs saying the wallet had been found in a store, and somebody had already blocked the credit cards, astoundingly! Dad immediately drove off to reclaim the wallet, and a short time later he came back with it.
The wallet had been tucked inside a purse at a store downtown. A woman intending to buy the purse found Mom’s wallet inside it and handed it in at the desk. The owner of the store immediately blocked the credit cards.
Isn’t that amazing?! Those punks obviously just wanted the cash, so they tossed the wallet away with everything else in it. There was only 5 Euro (under $10) in the wallet.
It could have been weeks before it was found. The person buying the purse might not have been an honest person. The store owner might not have been an honest person. So many things could have happened, and yet, we got Mom’s wallet back less than an hour after we realized it was missing. God is so good! He was looking out for us. I serve a great God! =)
I am reminded of that verse, "If God be for us, who can be against us?" Praise the Lord!
