Courting ~ Day 7

We made breakfast again. That was one of my favorite things that we did together.



We drove about an hour to a WW II American and Polish cemetery.



It was beautiful. Maybe I'm odd, but I enjoy cemeteries, especially ones with historical significance. It was neat to see Biblical inscriptions on the stones and know that some of those brave men had gone Home--truly to a better place.





"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me." ~ Psalm 23:4


Many of those boys buried behind us were younger than Russell when they died. How tragic that they never got to enjoy life and its pleasures...as we do. That thought makes me very thankful to God.

We ate dinner at La Place.






Russell wanted to take me home with him, but then we thought it might be more comfortable for me if I had a little air to breathe and such. (chuckle)



So, my baby bear got to go in the suitcase instead, along with more of my stuff. It was strange for Mom to have to start packing her daughter's things. I wonder how Rebekah and her family felt when she left to marry Isaac... I guess we're going to find out soon enough.



We spent the evening on that patio uploading pictures onto Russell's blog and talking, with Mom present, until around midnight.

Our last picture together before Russell and Bro. Buddy left at 4:30am to fly back to Florida. We had a very nice visit. Praise the Lord! God was and still is sooooooooooo good!

On the 4th



I love having pictures taken with my sister. She's so pretty. Mom took this one on...let's see...can you guess? Yup, it was the 4th of July. It's a little late, but I hope you all had a nice day. We had a barbeque with my former piano teacher. It was a very special 4th of July.

Explanation of the Election

My mom sent me this forward this morning. It's very good!

From a teacher in the Nashville area:

We are worried about "the cow" when everyone else thinks it's only about the "ice cream."

The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year. The presidential election was heating up, and some of the children showed an interest. I decided we would have an election for a class president. We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech, and the class would vote.

To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members. We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have. We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.

The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids. I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support. I had never seen Olivia's mother.

The day arrived when they were to make their speeches. Jamie went first. He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place. He ended by promising to do his very best. Everyone applauded. He sat down and Olivia came to the podium.

Her speech was concise. She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream." She sat down. The class went wild.

"Yes! Yes! We want ice cream."

She surely could have said more...but she did not have to.

A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream? She wasn't sure. Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it? She didn't know. The class really didn't care. All they were thinking about was ICE CREAM.

Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide.

Every time Barack Obama opens his mouth, he offers ice cream. Fifty percent of the people react like nine-year-olds; they want ice cream.

The other fifty percent know they're going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess.

America, America...what have you done???

The Origins of Thanksgiving

Americans are beginning to forget the important origins of our national Thanksgiving holiday. Its spiritual significance is no longer taught in our nation’s public schools. In fact, most school children today are taught that Thanksgiving originated when the Pilgrims invited their Indian friends to dinner to thank them for providing sustenance after the Mayflower landed. As with much of modern American revisionist history, there really is much more to the story.

Coming to America
The Atlantic crossing in the fall of 1620 had been an extremely difficult journey for the Pilgrims. For two months, 102 people were wedged into what was called the “tween decks” of the Mayflower—the ship’s cargo space with only about five-and-a-half feet of headroom. No one was allowed above deck because of the terrible storms. This was no pleasure trip.

The Pilgrims comforted themselves on their journey by singing from the Book of Psalms. This “noise” irritated one of the ship’s paid crewmembers. He told the Pilgrims he was looking forward to throwing their corpses overboard after they succumbed to the routine illnesses common on such voyages. As it turned out, this crewmember himself was the only person to die on the voyage and be thrown overboard. God providentially protected His own people. A little-known fact about the Mayflower is that this ship normally carried a cargo of wine; and the wine spillage from previous voyages had soaked the beams, acting as a disinfectant to prevent the spread of disease.

During one terrible storm, the main beam of the mast cracked. Death was certain if this beam could not be repaired. At that moment, the whole Pilgrim adventure could very easily have ended on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. Providentially, the Pilgrims had with them a large iron printing press screw. That screw repaired the beam, saving the ship and all on board.

“Land Ho!”
After sixty-six days at sea, land was sighted off Cape Cod, Massachusetts, not the place these Pilgrims wanted to be. They intended to establish their new colony in the northern parts of Virginia (which then extended to the Hudson River in modern-day New York), but two factors interrupted their plans. The winds had blown them off course, yes; but they later learned that other Englishmen who wanted to settle in the same part of Virginia had actually bribed the ship’s crew to land them farther north.

Despite this chicanery, God was in charge and the Pilgrims landed exactly where God wanted them to be. Had they actually made landfall near the Hudson River, they most certainly would have been immediately attacked by hostile Indians. Instead, they arrived at the one spot along the coast where hostile Indians had been providentially removed from the land.

Many years before the Mayflower journey, local Indians had captured a Frenchman on a fishing expedition to that region. Just as they were about to kill him, the Frenchman warned them God would be angry, would destroy them all, and would replace them with another nation. The Indians boastfully replied that his God could never kill them. Yet, a year or two before the Pilgrims arrived in this very same region, nearly all the native inhabitants had been wiped out by a plague.

Help Arrives
Despite this miraculous provision of safety from hostile Indians, the Pilgrims barely survived their first winter on the Cape. Only four families remained intact; but God was still faithful. In the spring of 1621, He sent Squanto, an English-speaking Indian who offered to teach the Pilgrims how to survive in this strange new land.

Squanto was one of only a few local Indians who escaped the plague. He had been captured as a young man and taken to England as a slave. During that time he mastered the English language. When he was freed, he returned to his native territory on the Cape shortly before the Pilgrims arrived. Probably the most important thing Squanto taught the Pilgrims was how to plant the native winter staple crop--corn.

The Pilgrims thanked God for this wonderful helper. They also repaid Squanto by sharing with him the most valuable treasure they had brought with them from England—the Gospel. Squanto died a year or two after coming to the aid of the Pilgrims, but before his death he asked them to pray with him that he might go to be with their God in Heaven.

Peace and Thankfulness
Squanto introduced other Indians to the Pilgrims, and these Indians were also impressed with the Pilgrims’ God. During the summer of 1621, it appeared the year’s corn harvest would not survive a severe drought. The Pilgrims responded by calling for a day of fasting and prayer. By the end of the day, it was raining. The rain saved the corn, which miraculously sprang back to life. One of the Indians who observed this miracle remarked that the Pilgrims’ God must be a very great God because when the Indians pow-wowed for rain, it always rained so hard that the corn stalks were broken down. They noticed the Pilgrims’ God acted differently by sending a very gentle rain that did not damage the corn harvest.

It was that miraculous corn harvest in 1621 that provided grain for the Pilgrims’ first Thanksgiving meal with their Indian friends and helpers. The evidence of history shows that on this first Thanksgiving Day, both the Pilgrims and Indians thanked God for His great provision and for His goodness toward them all.

Unlike other Europeans who came to America, these Bible-believing Pilgrims were model Christians in their dealings with the native populations. During their first year on the Cape, Squanto, acting as a friend and interpreter, had assisted the Pilgrims in negotiating an important peace treaty with Chief Massasoit, leader of the nearby Wampanoag Indians. The two populations, Indian and Pilgrim, kept that treaty of peace for more than fifty years.

The Tradition Continues
The story of Thanksgiving doesn’t end there. The holiday itself was not officially celebrated until almost 170 years later, after the Revolutionary War had been won and our American Constitution had been adopted. In 1789, Congress approved the Bill of Rights, the first ten amendments to the Constitution. Congress then “recommended a day of public thanksgiving and prayer” to thank God for blessing America. President Washington declared November 26, 1789, as the first national day of prayer and thanksgiving to the Lord.

Another 75 years later, after the Civil War ended, President Abraham Lincoln officially established the last Thursday in November as a day to acknowledge “the gracious gifts of the Most High God,” which He had bestowed on America. Every president continued this tradition until 1941 when Congress officially made Thanksgiving a national holiday.

Teach Your Children
Now that you know the true story of Thanksgiving, this year make sure your children and grandchildren learn it too. As America is currently facing serious challenges both at home and abroad, let’s join together with countless generations before us in giving thanks to God for blessing and preserving our nation. Let’s make sure that all our children and grandchildren learn Whose hand of protection has been on America; and let’s all pray that He will continue to bless and sustain our nation as we continue to acknowledge and honor Him.

What is Wrong With America???

My first thought upon waking up this morning was who is the president of the United States? I did my devotions and then braced myself as I checked Fox News. I was hoping with all my heart that McCain had won, but I guess deep inside I knew it was pretty much impossible with Obama’s overwhelming popularity, unless God did something spectacular. Still, I was shocked when I saw that Obama really won the election. It was a landslide. My first thought was this: What is wrong with America???

What is wrong with America??? How can America be so foolish? How can a nation founded by godly men be turned over to an inexperienced man who disregards the founding principles of the very country he seeks to lead and blasphemes the name of the One our forefathers sought to honor? Obama refuses to show respect to the American flag and the American Anthem. America just elected a man who approves not only of abortion, but infanticide! A man who approves of MURDER!!! America has elected a man who has no plans of supporting Israel and wants to keep giving our money to the Arabs so they can build nuclear weapons to destroy us. I recently saw an advertisement with Obama saying something about not compromising Israel’s security. Of course he won’t compromise; if/when Russia and all the rest of the Arab nations rise up to attack Israel, he’s going to hand them over. He won’t care!!! America is the one country that has protected Israel, God’s chosen people. This may be one of the reasons why God has withheld the judgment that America deserves for her great wickedness…for the blood of innocent babies and the immorality and the filth polluting our land. Obama’s theme is change. “Change has come to America.” Yeah, you bet it has! And it’s the kind of change that is going to terrify people and ruin our country. Dear God!!! What is wrong with America??? We have gone so far as to shun the very One who made our country great. We have raised our fists to the sky and turned our backs on the same God we ask to bless our nation.

“Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.” (Jeremiah 6:16) By electing so wicked a man as Barack Hussein Obama, this is America’s silent message: “We will not walk therein.” May God have mercy upon us!

“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.” (Proverbs 29:2) I grasped a new understanding of this verse today. My heart is mourning for our nation. Dad tried to comfort and encourage us this morning as we discussed these things. He is right. God is still on the throne and His kingdom ruleth over all! By the alarming outcome of this election we see one more sign of the times we live in. In the last days evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. (2Timothy 3:13) The stage is set for Christ’s second coming. We see everything is falling into place. Russia is restless. The only nation willing to defend Israel is in the hands of a Muslim-sympathizing U.S. president. I can’t believe the days I am living in. Could it be that Jesus Christ will return in my lifetime?! It sure looks like a possibility! Would to God it would be so!

Even though Republicans and Conservatives are feeling down today, we need to remember Romans 8:28. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Nothing can happen that is out of God’s control. “The mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he [the Holy Sprit] who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.” (2 Thessalonians 2:7) As long as Christians--those filled with the Holy Sprit--are on this earth, evil can only go so far before God intervenes. So don’t be down; things are looking up!!! We serve a GREAT God!!! He is able!

As we drove to church tonight I was impressed with the victorious words of this song, sung by the Marshall family.

God is still holy, God is still pure.

Vacation ~ Friday

What a chilly morning! Fall has definitely arrived! We were all up early because we had to be out of the house by 10 AM. It was the mad rush to pack and get the house cleaned up behind us. For breakfast I ate a banana and a sunflower seed cracker while walking around doing this and that. It’s amazing how much work it takes to get out of a house that you’ve only occupied for 3 whole days. We did have a really enjoyable time at “De Kleine Beer.” We’re hoping to go back again some year. (Picture: Josiah giving a thumbs down; he doesn’t like my Acer laptop. Ha!)



We drove by the car racing place again. Dad and Josiah really wanted to go again, but we had to drop the key off at the main office by 10 AM. Mom, Dad, and I walked up the hill at the Ourthe en Somme head office. The view was spectacular. There was the cutest little barn all decorated with flower boxes. I love the way people do that in Belgium!


As I said, the temperature was cold on Friday morning. The grass was covered with dew and the air was nippy. Mom kept teasing as we drove that if the temperature would go up to 50 degrees we could go kayaking, so she was encouraging the temperature by talking it up from 46 to 47 to 48... The temperature did rise slowly, but we all knew it was still too cold to go kayaking. The water would be cold enough to give a person hypothermia. Already I felt miserable between my throat and fingers hurting and itchy nose. I’ve got fall allergies, and they drive my nuts!!! My poor family; I’m afraid I’ve been snappy. =(















On the drive into Belgium we had passed the American WWII Cemetery (see link here) that we’ve visited in the past. Mom suggested we stop, since she knew the three of us kids really wanted to. We love anything having to do with WWII history, both because of my grampa’s participation and my dad’s interest in it.

It was overwhelming to see all those white crosses. I believe 5,328 American soldiers are buried in that cemetery. The full impact of it didn’t really hit me until I started reading all those names and thinking about the lives and untold stories of those brave American men who were willing to sacrifice their lives that strangers in foreign lands might have their freedom. The only remembrance we have of them are their names, the units in which they served and their ranks, the states from which they came, and the dates of their deaths. Some didn’t even have that much.

As I gazed over that burial ground, covered with fresh morning dew, so many unanswered questions filled my mind. Who were they? How young were they when they died? How did they die? Did they suffer terribly? Who did they leave behind? A grieving mother and father? A wife and children? Two graves had flowers on them, meaning somebody must have visited from the States recently. I wonder how they felt having their loved one buried in foreign soil, so very far from home.


Then Mom said she wondered how many of their graves would burst open at the Rapture. How many souls received Jesus Christ as their Saviour? How many of those heroes would rise from their cold beds of earth to meet the Lord in the air? What a thought! What a day of victory when a moral shall put on immortality!!!

After looking around the burial grounds we headed back to the American memorial. Inside the huge building were three enormous map-like plans of the war on the walls, as well as two American flags and some beautiful inscriptions engraved on the wall.
Everything was beautifully kempt. One thing I love about America is this: America takes care of her own! Makes me proud to be an American!!!

Remembering 9/11

September 11 is a day I will never forget. It’s one of those moments that seems so unreal it makes a lasting impression.


Our family had just arrive back in the States, from the mission field of Holland, for a three-month furlough. We flew over New York City only days before. We saw the Statue of Liberty standing tall in the harbor; we saw the Twin Towers.
Our family had rented a large house, the Ormsby house, in the countryside from a distant acquaintance. Jetlagged, we were still in our pajamas when my aunt called and said a plane had crashed into the Twin Towers. I was only 13 at the time, and the name “World Trade Centers” didn’t mean a whole lot to me. Dad found an old radio, then he hunted around and discovered a small TV. We gathered around to watch the news.

It was a horrific scene that met our eyes. We actually saw the second plane go crashing into the other tower, but everyone thought it was a rerun until the reporters began getting frantic calls that a second plane had flown into the towers.

Situations like 9/11 seem so out of control that it’s almost unbelievable. You see it being played out before you, but your mind is screaming that it can’t be true. The mind can hardly comprehend that something so traumatic can actually happen. Planes controlled by maniacs can slam into buildings, killing innocent lives…explosions…dark clouds of smoke and debris flying into the air… Towers can collapse, crushing hundreds and hundreds of human beings just like you and me. It’s unimaginable, and to think all that really did occurred...

Have you ever had this thought? What if it had been you sitting on that plane heading for those towers? What if you had been at your desk that day? What if the building had collapsed with you still in it?
Death is not a pleasant thought, but it is one we all need to face. Where will our souls be when our bodies have died? Where will we spend eternity…in Heaven or Hell? We can know for sure that we are going to Heaven! Please go to this link (here) and take the good person test. It’s really an eye-opener! I can honestly say that if I had been in a high-jacked plane or in the towers on September 11, 2001, my soul would be in Heaven, because I have put my faith and trust in Jesus Christ. The blood He shed on Calvary’s cross has washed me of the filthy sin that had me headed straight for Hell. When death comes knocking on your door, will you be ready?



As an American, I can say that WE HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN! The enemies of America will pay. Not only do we have brave men and women willing to sacrifice their lives for this country and plenty of self-defense weapons, but we have a God that these terrorists know not of!!! He it is who fights for us! Our great nation was founded on Biblical principles. As long as we have praying Christians in America, and a God-fearing president in the White House, nothing can happen in the United States that is out of God’s control.


This picture reminds me that there is hope. Often in our lives we face incomprehendible trials that leave our lives in shambles. Financial problems, marital problems, relationship problems, health problems… Everything seems to be crashing in around us. But after the dust and debris have settled, through the rubble we will see a beacon of hope. If Jesus Christ is our Savour, then we have a blessed promise.
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

To those of you who are suffering today because of lost loved ones, you have our deepest sympathy. With God’s help, what happened seven years ago today will never happen again.

Happy 4th of July!!!

Happy glorious fourth to all fellow Americans!

What a beauteous summer day we are having! The sun is shining brilliantly, and white fluffy clouds are drifting lazily in the clear blue sky. Half the population of Holland has left the country for Spain, so it’s wonderfully quiet and peaceful. We live by a school, which means we get to listen to demoniac kids screaming all day long; I can’t tell you how nice it is to be able to hear myself think for a change! (contented sigh)

I woke up at 7:30 this morning remembering that today is the 4th of July. It’s so weird to celebrate when nobody else is doing anything special. Makes it a little less fun. I vaguely remember the parades and picnics we enjoyed when living in the States. I was so little then that it didn’t really register. Having Mommy and Daddy excited was good enough reason for me to be happy. I didn’t enjoy the festivities as much as I would now. If you’re living in the States be sure and have some good fun for me, okay? =)

Anyway, we are planning to have our own little party with Miss Elles, an old friend of ours. We used to have mini church services with Miss Elles when we first arrived in Holland, and she taught me how to play the piano. She isn’t an American, but she speaks perfect English, loves America, and lived there for 8 years. On top of all that she loves burgers, so we are going to have a good ol’ barbeque in the backyard later this evening.

After waking up (that always helps get the day moving=) and having my personal devotions, I went outside and fed/played around with our baby bunnies on the patio. They are so cute, and SO squirmy! They don’t seem to like being petted too much, but I could sit and watch them all day long. They are so personable. Whenever we go outside they immediately leave their relaxed position and begin climbing all over the bars like, “We’re here! Come give us attention!” As I ate my breakfast I sat on the window ledge overlooking their playpen. Peanut noticed me, and she began climbing up the bars, looking at me as if to say, “Help! I want out of here! Don’t you have a key, or somethin’?” Both Peanut and Pumpkin stand up on their hind legs very often and look up the cage bars as if they’re measuring the distance it would take to hop over them. Poor things. Lydia read that baby bunnies are worse than puppies. That’s an understatement! =D

Simon, our little 5-year-old neighbor boy heard me outside talking to the bunnies, and he called his usual greeting. “Hallo, buurmeisje! (Hello, neighbor girl!)” If we are within sight or hearing distance, you can be sure Simon will discover us. He’s like a little hound dog! =D “I can’t see you!” was the next thing I heard. That’s essential, you know! =) So, we both peeked through the fence at each other, and then he was satisfied. Cutie! =D

After enjoying the bunnies for a while I got myself ready for the day and then began preparing the rest of the potato salad for dinner and cleaning up the kitchen. I was craving peanut butter cookies yesterday, so I made a big batch. In case you don’t know, I have this love affair with peanut butter. =D When I was a little girl I called it “butterfly.” It’s so yummy! Bananas with peanut butter are my favorite snack.

Mom and Josiah just left for the grocery store on their bikes. It’s going on 1:00 p.m. now, and Dad is still gone. He left the house at 9:30 a.m. to meet two of our guys from church. I hope everything goes well. We’ve been dealing with some ministerial issues, which I can’t go into much detail about right now. I’d better be moving along for now. I’ll write more later! =)

LATER (1:30 p.m.): Mom and Josiah got home, and we unpacked the groceries. Mom started the burgers, and Lydia and I were cutting up vegetables when the phone rang. Papa called. Lydia had hung up the phone on him earlier, because she didn’t hear anything, so he called back. This time I answered it. He said Lydia and her two bunnies are on his hit list, and then when I gave the phone to Mom he said Lydia is on his spit list. Ha, ha! The whole family is going to Papa’s cottage on Keuka Lake for a picnic. (sad moaning) I have a fleeting feeling of homesickness. That doesn’t happen like it used to, except on special occasions…holidays and such. The time of crying for loved ones who can’t be reached from across the span of an ocean is past. I’m thankful for that.

LATER: At 5:00 Miss Elles arrived…with her American shirt on!!! =) Mom and I were both wearing ours too. Dad and Josiah had to run to the store to get some mayonnaise, so in the meantime the four of us girl tried to figure out how to work Miss Elles’s bird leash. We got a Beanie Baby to try it out on, because we couldn’t follow the directions. Once we tried it out on the stuffed animal it made sense, although I must say I feel sorry for the poor victim, I mean bird who’ll be wearing it. =D

The guys got home with the stuff and soon we began bringing the food out to the patio and Dad started the grill. Then the grill ran out of gas. This happens every time we have Miss Elles over for a barbeque; it’s a tradition. =D (sigh) It’s either laugh or cry. So, then Dad went out to get gas for the grill, and we waited around, feeling very hungry, I might add. I didn’t have much of anything for lunch.

Soon Dad was back and we were able to sit down to dinner. Yum! The food---burgers, potato salad, chips, carrot sticks, and dill pickles---tasted GREAT! I pigged out and ate one-and-a-half burgers ~ something I never do! During dinner we talked about many things from Miss Elles’s surgeries (yuck! I felt weak, and Lydia was plugging her ears---ha!) to burgers with grizzle. Mom buys tartar, which is meat with the least amount of fat and grizzle. I love her burgers! (I don’t miss you at all, McDonald’s!) Anyway, the talk of grizzle caused Josiah to share his great secret for why he is never bothered by grizzle. His solution is this: Just don’t chew your burger too well! We all laughed and moaned at the same time, and then Mom scolded Josiah. Ha, ha! My brother is such a sicko! Ha, ha! =D

Friday night is what we call “guy night,” when the guys get the privilege of cleaning up dinner. I just love Fridays for this reason! =D So, anyway, after the guys did the cleaning we sat down and I played a piano piece I composed for Miss Elles. She said I play better than she did (she can’t play anymore due to her reumatoide arthritis), but I don’t believe a word of it! Miss Elles used to play for concerts and stuff like that, which is something I could never do!!! I’m so thankful for all she’s taught me. Miss Elles is a blessing to be sure! =)

After talking some, we watched 30 minutes of---don’t laugh now---Nemo. Yes, Nemo, the adorable fish movie. Oh, I think it’s so cute! There’s only a 2 minute part where the music needs to be turned down, because it’s rocky. Besides that I think the movie is too cute. I love the bright colors. Miss Elles like it, as we thought she would. We ate peanut butter cookies; boy, they tasted delicious! I’ve gotta get that peanut butter fix! =D

Well, this is getting long. We just got back from a nice bike ride through the new housing area they are building near us. I enjoyed that! The sunset was beautiful!
It’s 10:30 p.m. now, so I’ll be saying good night, and God bless! We had a very happy 4th of July! Hope you did too! =)

GOD THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

Though my feet trod foreign soil, still my heart is firmly rooted in the U.S.A., the greatest nation on earth. Being a missionary’s daughter, and living in another country than that of my birth, I can truly say that my love for America has only increased. The saying “you don’t know what you have until you lose it” rings true. I’m more patriotic today than I ever was living in the States.

The United states is ridiculed by many for her people’s patriotic love and devotion. If these critics were citizens of the best country on earth I guess they would love her too, for she is the land of the free and the home of the brave!

America is badmouthed for her intervention in the affairs of other nations. When these countries less fortunate than ours are in need of protection, we aren’t afraid to send our boys over to fight injustices.

And then I hear the murmuring voices of those on home soil who complain about every little thing. Nothing meets with their approval. Quit your whining! I would love to buy these ungrateful wretches a one-way ticket to some third world, impoverished, famine-struck, war-stricken country. At least then they would have something justifiable to complain about.

I for one LOVE my country! I am proud to be an American! Praise God for His loving hand of protection and guidance over our nation. It is only because American was founded on Christian principles and has sought the Lord that by His grace we have become the great country we are today. We should not take this for granted.

The prosperity of our nation is dependant on how we treat God. Will we reject Him or allow Him to rule over us? Will we continue to murder innocent babies? Will we continue to approve the filthy lifestyles of the Sodomites who are abomination to God? Will we continue to scorn the old paths, so clearly marked by God’s Word? (Jeremiah 6:16 “Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.”) Let us remember that “righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” Proverbs 14:34

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

Happy 4th of July, and while you’re eating your burgers and apple pie and enjoying the festivities of the day, don’t forget to pray for your nation.
