The Life We Love

I love the flowers here in Florida! I think this one looks like a dessert.

The pond is so peaceful.

This pretty dragonfly graced me with its presence during one of my pond visits.

And the telephone still rings! UGH! I hate phones.

You don't want to step on one of the thousands of anthills here in FL...
especially since a cute ant couple like this one may be out on a picnic.

And then there are the much less desirable creatures. UGH! This cockroach crawled out of the garbage can while I was making dinner one night. He was the second visitor I had in one evening. I screamed so hard I pulled muscles in my back! =D Just about every morning we wake up and find these disgusting things on the floor--thankfully they're dead and not alive, like this one.

Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life?
It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
~ James 4:14

One of the gardens is starting to grow! Big Daddy & Grandma have been giving me home-grown cucumbers, green peppers, and tomatoes. I made stuffed peppers for the first time the other day. They turned out great!

We never could get cube steaks in Holland, so I've started making them now. Russell loves them! I am also enjoying yellow summer squash, which we couldn't get in Holland.

No caption needed.

More unique Florida flowers! I discovered these at Pier Park.

White grape juice + fresh-squeezed lemon + heart-shaped ice cubes
= the best lemonade ever!!!

Oreo, the white horse. She wanders the property feeding on grass. I have loved watching her lazily amble alongside the house. It gives a sense of tranquility---as if there's not a worry in the world. She is going to have to be sold soon---just another reminder that life has changed forever, and the past can never be recaptured.

Kitty Boy was Russell's cat when he lived at home. Now he's found a home at Grandma & Big Daddy's place. Tebow is Aaron's dog and the cutest thing ever! He wiggles his whole backside when he gets excited and looks like he's going to jump out of his skin.

Fried chicken + heart-shaped corn = Southern LOVE!

Russell told God he would never buy 2 certain vehicles...and he has owned both of them.
Russell told God he would never marry a Northerner...and now he's married to one.
Be careful what you tell God you won't do!

We picked plump wild blackberries recently during a walk around the pond.

Russell & I invented a fun game that only involves a rug, golf ball, pen, pad of paper, and an accurate hand.
For being such a simple game it sure was fun!
I won!

This is the life we love--simple, natural, beautiful.

Holding Hands

I was going through old emails when I came across this video. It's so cute! Otters are such funny creatures. They're ugly and cute at the same time. I really like praire dogs. Those are adorable!!!!! Boy, I'd sure enjoy going to the zoo all of a sudden! =D

Wonderful Spring!

Spring has come to Holland! The sun has been a frequent visitor after many months of seemingly endless gloominess. Every morning I wake up to the sound of birds chirping merrily, though the sun has not even risen yet. I've noticed that the grass in our yard is growing again and so are the flowers! I thought you all might enjoy some pictures...

Daffodils growing in the park.

Mom, Lyd, and I went for a walk the other evening, and we spotted a mother swan sitting on her nest. She must have sensed that we were there to admire her; she seemed to look proud of herself for having such a fine nest.

More cheerful daffodils.

And some crocuses.
