Unexpected Enjoyment

What a nice family time we had yesterday evening! We had planned to go berry picking yesterday afternoon with the Kamps, but we found out that the blueberries were already picked even though the blueberry farm doesn’t close down until September 1st. Too bad! Then it was the waiting-and-wondering game. Are we going to do something or not?

Finally at 3:30 p.m. we decided to walk through the woods in Lage Vuurse with the Kamps. Although the weather had been threatening to rain earlier, the sun was shining down on us by late afternoon. It felt wonderful to walk leisurely and talk. I love nature walks!!! They are so relaxing. We walked for several hours.

When we got to the parking lot we decided to eat dinner out, since it was quite late at that point. So, we piled in our vans and headed for a LaPlace restaurant around the corner, which is just about the only family restaurant we know of. I got siam--a mix of vegetables and noodles with a spicy sauce and coconut milk--along with Mom, Dad, Mrs. Kamps, and Josh. It was good, but I was sooooooo thirsty, and bottled water costs an arm and a leg. Everyone else ate pizza.

Then we walked through the store (the restaurant was inside a huge department-type store). They had a lot of nice things, but it was very expensive!!! Yikes! A little plastic make-up case was 47 Euro, and a picnic table outside was 46 Euro. Somebody didn’t know how to price things! But, it was fun to just look around.

It was really nice to be with the Kamps. God has blessed us so much by giving us the Kamps for friends on this lonely mission field! I got some nice picture, which I’m about to share with you. Hope you enjoy them! =)

I cut some little sunflowers the other day and brought them into the house. Pretty, huh?

Eating at LaPlace

Annika enjoyed her pizza!

Grace and Annika liked this pink apron. The store was very nice. It was fun to look at all the kitchenware. They had the cutest stuff!

Alisah and Lydia

Grace also wanted a picture taken with popular Lydia. (chuckle)

Whoever designed this boat bed had quite an imagination. I thought it was too cute!!!

Dad and Mr. Kamps testing out computer chairs and desks. That's always their favorite place in the store. They like to sit around and talk...and talk...and talk. Ha, ha!

We thought this hideous, archaic-looking chandelier looked like something you'd find in a haunted house. Creepy!

Take a look at these neat 50's refridgerators!!! I love the pink ones! They also had a bright orange one that I wasn't able to fit in the picture.

You should've seen the cave-man lawn furniture for sale. I didn't try it out, but the kids said it was very uncomfortable. Here's Josiah being interesting. I think he was attempting to imitate a frozen human left over from the ice age. (chuckle)

Family, but not family.

The Kamps are family, but not by blood...unless you consider the blood of Jesus Christ that binds us together as spiritual family. Josh, Alisah, Grace, and Annika are like cousins to Lydia, Josiah, and me. We thank God for them!!!
