Happy Birthday, Mom!

Today Mom turned....hmm....well, I'd better not say. She turned another year older, but she's still young at heart and beauteous as ever! I think my mom only gets more special to me as I grow up and learn to appreciate her more. Mom really is my best friend. I think this picture of my parents is SO cute! =)

I was going to make breakfast, but Lydia beat me to it (I got to set the table). We had scones, scrambled eggs, hash browns, and fried turkey-ham. Yum! Lyd is a great little cook!

Then it was time to open gifts. Mom thought the cupcake card I made her was store-bought. I have so much fun making cards!

I bought Mom a purple purse, a tin to match the tall-and-skinny mugs I bought her for Christmas last year, and I made this cross-stitch a while ago, which Mom really liked, so I gave it to her. I still need to buy white lace to put around the edges. Mom got some neat gifts, including an 8-gig MP3 player, an Abigal Miller CD (from Lyd), the soundtrack of 'Anne of Green Gables.'

For lunch we ate a large slice of cake (Dad ordered a sugar-free strawberry kwark cake from the health food store), and we went for a brisk walk in the afternoon. It was COOOLD! But it really was a beautiful day. I'm glad the weather was nice and sunny for Mom.
We got home, and I immediately began getting dinner on. Mom requested Thanksgiving dinner for her birthday meal. We had turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, brussels sprouts and carrots, and cherry tomatoes. It tasted great, if I do say so myself.
Then the three of us girls spent the evening at the Kamps' house. It's become a tradition for all of us ladies to watch a 'girl movie' either on Mom's, Mrs. Kamps', or my birthday. We had an enjoyable time together!
Happy Birthday, Mom! I love you!
