Ice skating!

We went ice skating with the Kamps after dinner last night. It was really fun! The ice was nice and smooth, although there was quite a bit of snow on it. Every time I step out on the ice after lacing up my skates, I marvel anew at how wonderful it feels to be gliding around on the slippery surface. I declared that when I get to Heaven I’m going to skate everywhere, and Mrs. Kamps laughed. I do love ice skating!!!

Mom came with us and sat in a lawn chair. I wish she could skate, but her back can’t take it.

I was so proud of Annika. She skated around the rink twice all by herself. She was pleased with herself, and we were happy for her. Later on I took both her little mittened hands in mine and skated backwards while pulling her forwards, toward me. She loved that, and exclaimed, “This is fun!”
The guys played some ice hockey. It was just a lot of fun!

At one point Alisah needed socks, because her skates were rubbing against her skin, I guess. Mom, who carries just about everything in her coat pockets or her purse, produced a pair of socks, amazingly! Mom is used to being the "mama" for everyone at church. If somebody has a headache and needs a painkiller, they know who to go to. I think Mom is sweet to always be caring for everybody else!

My parents got Lydia and me matching blue-and-tan Nike skates for Christmas in 2005. They are so nice a warm, and CUTE too, I might add!!! =D

Lacing up...

Ice skating is so fun! Especially when someone is pulling you!

Annika and Grace had fun searching for ice clumps on the edge of the rink.

They have a free ice skating rink downtown in Almere. We had the whole thing to ourselves for most of the time that we were out. Nice!

Lyd and me taking a break and looking a little cooooold!

The boys, Josh and Joe, in action. They were fighting like two bear cubs. =D

Dad was pleased that his very old skates broke so now he has a good excuse to buy a new pair. (chuckle)

My mommy! She patiently sat in a chair in the cold and watched us have fun. Moms are the sweetest gift of God!!!
