More Sewing!

I know you ladies have been anxiously awaiting an update on my dress. I'm very excited! So, let me show you what we've accomplished of late...

The inset is finished and just waiting to be sewn into the bodice....

And the bodice, minus the sleeves, is sewn together...all except for the zipper. That comes in later. I'm wondering where we'll be able to find a place that carries zippers for clothing. We've seen zippers for like Bible cases, etc., in sewing stores, but that's it. Anyway, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

And now we've attached a sleeve! Right now it's basted on. We still need to sew it properly. Mom had me try it on at this point just to see how it would look. (squeal) It's so pretty!

The lace has a rose print, almost identical to the roses on the material. It's actually old lace that my mom had packed away, but it's in perfectly good shape. I just love the way the lace on the sleeve drapes so softly. We're still planning to sew a little bow (same sea-foam green as the ribbon on the inset) or a rosette on the outer edge of the sleeve, just above where the lace start, along the ribbon edge.

I was pleased that the sleeve was slightly puffy at the shoulder. The pattern didn't make it look like it had any gathering whatsoever, so I was pleasantly surprised about that. And that's the progress we've made so far! Now for that other sleeve....

Hannah! That was so nice of you to leave a comment for me : ) I am glad that post was an encouragement to you. Are you familiar with the Visionary Daughters blog? That is where I got the post. The young women have been a blessing in my life in many ways even though I have never met them! I know that they would give all credit to the Lord.

The Lord used that post to open my eyes and bring closure to a dilemma I had in my heart.

I loved your "about me" section on this blog about your role as a young woman in preparing to be a wife and mother. It made me smile : )

I will follow your blog and maybe we can stay in touch.

God Bless
