Being in the ministry you notice some peculiar things. One thing I have noticed is that people who stay in the Lord’s House and do what it right will thrive. Those who set aside their human thinking and embrace God’s commandments as their own, esteeming them more valuable than personal opinion, seem to blossom into something beautiful indeed. An obedient Christian, like a lovely spring flower, looks to the sun, or the Son, and receives the light and nutrients to grow strong and beautiful.
And then there are other Christians. These walk in pride and arrogance. These reject the truth of God’s Word and the earnest warnings of their pastor and Christian friends. These choose their own way, being led by their own human thinking and deceived hearts. I have noticed something very interesting about these Christians. As soon as they leave the security of the church, having determined their own path (which is opposite that which Jesus would have them follow) something strange occurs. Patterns of abnormal behavior being to appear.
I have noticed that various former church members visit this blog repeatedly, 5 or 6 times in one day, every day of the week. My record shows that I only publish a post maybe 3 or 4 times in one week, and certainly not 5 or 6 times in one day alone. My best friends don’t even come on that often!!! This is very unusual to me. One might call it obsession. I am puzzled by the fact that folks would leave our church and then continually come back to read my blog. The teaching that was rejected in the walls of our church building are being declared on this blog over the worldwide web. With all due respect, I would like to ask this question: If the truth is not what you wanted to hear, then why read what I have to say, which is only what you would be hearing in our church? And, if you believe that what we teach is not truth, then why do you persistently return to this blog if you believe we walk in error?
I am reminded of King Saul who walked in willful rebellion and was tormented by an evil spirit from the Lord upon rejecting the truth. When Saul shunned God’s commandments he began to do unusual things…things he would never have done before. He had fits of rage and even tried to kill his own family. He became obsessed. It is scary what can happen to Christians once they reject the truth… Very scary! May Saul and his untimely death (due to his willful disobedience) be a warning to us all!!!
I would like to assure these former church members that I do not gossip, if that is a concern. It is never my intention to hurt anyone. We do not hate you at all. We forgive you for the pain we experienced as the body of Christ was torn apart by your separation. We pray God will bless you with a renewed desire for truth and hope you will once again join those who obediently follow the Lord Jesus Christ and His Holy Word.
Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD.
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
Joshua 24:14-15
