Special Friends

Life seems so hard to bear
With its problems, frustrations,
Temptations everywhere
But God loves His children
And He hears our every prayer
He’ll send a special friend
Who always will be there
~
God gives us special friends, forever friends
Who know just what to say
God sends us special friends
To walk with us along life’s way
And, oh, how great to know, as on we go
There’s someone there to share, someone who cares
God gives us special friends
Who always will be there
~
Friends play so strong a part
When they keep us in their prayers,
Their minds and in their hearts
And God directs His children
If we will let Him lead
He’ll send a special friend
Who knows just what we need
~
Oh, how God loves us so
And our steps He directs
Where ’er our paths go
And when the burden’s heavy
And it seems too hard to bear
He’ll send a special friend
To show us that He cares
~
God sends us special friends, forever friends
Who know just what to say
God gives us special friends
To walk with us along life’s way
And, oh, how great to know, as on we go
There’s someone there to share, someone who cares
God gives us special friends
Who always will be there
~
And, oh, how great to know, as on we go
There’s someone there to share, someone who cares
God gives us special friends who always will be there

Hannah's Thoughts

I’m so thankful for the friendship of the special people God has placed in my life ~ my parents, my brother and sister, and so many brothers and sisters in the Lord Jesus.
I truly believe that the bond of love and friendship reaches much deeper and far beyond the blood ties of family alone. The love of Christ is the strongest love this world has ever known, and the love He has put in our hearts for each other, as brothers and sisters in Him, is unable to be fully comprehended.

In 178 A.D., Celsus wrote a literary attack against Christians. One of his criticisms was, “These Christians love each other even before they are acquainted.” What a wonderful accusation, and how true it is! There are brothers and sisters all over this world whom I have never had the privilege of meeting face to face, and yet I do love them!

The Lord has recently sent me a special friend, the daughter of a missionary in Alaska, who has grown very dear to my heart in the short month that we have been writing each other. We have never met. It is very likely that we never will meet on this earth, yet we have a sure promise of being united, for we will one day meet in that sweet Land where all weary pilgrims take their rest in the loving arms of Jesus Christ. What a day that will be! I can hardly wait, can you?

What the Bible says about friends and friendship:

Proverbs 17:17 ~ A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
Proverbs ~ 18:24 A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
Proverbs 27:6 ~ Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
Proverbs 27:9 ~ Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.
Proverbs 27:17 ~ Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
Ecclesiastes 4:9, 10 ~ Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.
