Church Picnic

We had a church picnic at our (rented) church building yesterday. It was a fun and a blessing. Brother Spoelstra and his church were able to join us. After a time of hymn singing, we ate lunch---burgers and hotdogs on the grill---and then we watched a 30 minute movie about soul winning. After that the guys went and played soccer in the big, open field in front of the building. Some of the ladies, including myself, played Spoons. That was a blast! I love Spoons. The guys came back from playing soccer, all grubby and very thirsty. =D Some of the folks from the Spoelstras' church began heading home as we started a game of volleyball. The picnic lasted about 9 hours (wow!), and we had a lot of fun together. I thought I’d share some photos. (I uploaded the last few pictures in a smaller format. Double-click photos to see enlarged images.)

Lydia helping out. Yummy food! =P

Just hangin' around.

Josiah, our handsome soundman, busy..as always. =)

Brother Spoelstra and Mischa playing for the hymn singing.

Lydia pretending to poke Mischa. She's finally found her chance after years of scheming. =D

Denny (yellow), Martin Rust (Bro. Spoelstra's son-in-law), and Hugo

Diggin' in like true Baptists. =D

Lydia and Grace Spoelstra

Greasy meat on the grill. =D

Lyd and me eating lunch in the trunk of our van.

Mom and Antoinette eating lunch.

Grace Spoelstra, my friend. I love Grace! Wish we could get together more often.

The ladies from the Spoelstras' church sang for us before we watched the soul-winning movie.

Playing Spoons. That was fun! We call it the scream-game. I guess you can figure out why, if you've ever played. =D

Guys playing soccer. The ball is in the air!

Steven and his grass stain. =D

Anthony, showing me his dirty, sweaty shirt. Wow! Those guys played hard! I'm glad they had fun.

Our church building, the one that we rent, from the outside.

Playing volleyball.

JAIL! Right in front of our building is a road, which the children continually crossed. It's a miracle they weren't run over by a car. Finally all disobedient children were locked up behind the fence, since they wouldn't obey.

Me docorating my hat with buttercups.

Folks from the Spoelstras' church heading home.
Bye, bye!
