This and That

Boy, I’ve really been slacking off here! I keep thinking of some ordinary, everyday things I could write about, but then I always end up deciding they are too insignificant to share. Probably dumb, but…

Okay, let me just go on a little rabbit trail and share some stuff with you. Yesterday Dad preached a message called “Humility’s Abilities.” It was a good message. Dad preached about some things I’ve been thinking on lately. He talked about not getting discouraged when we fail. It seems I’ve been doing a lot of that lately... Failing the Lord. Messing up. Walking in my own strength instead of relying upon the Lord for His. When I fall, I shouldn’t sit there crying about it. I need to get up and try again. God doesn’t like quitters.

My mind was going 100 mph as Dad spoke. I remembered the verse in Proverbs that I read recently: “Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?” That stuck out in my mind. In other words, every person will boast about his great abilities, but who can find a person faithfully carrying out his duties, no matter how great or small, significant or insignificant?

I’ve been discouraged lately. I feel like I’m not really doing anything of importance. Every day it’s the same old story. I’m not doing anything great… What is my true purpose in life? Dad was preaching that we should fulfill our duties, no matter how small they may seem. Then it dawned on me…just be faithful! Just be faithful! To God it doesn’t matter how great my task may be; all He asks is faithfulness. I felt a renewed energy sweep over me as I decided right then that I will be faithful! I gleaned a lot of stuff from that message. Great stuff! =)

Well, that was the rabbit trail. Now for the exciting things I want to tell you about!

On Sunday, during prayer request time, Shelby, a girl in our church, asked for prayer for her friend Pauline. Shelby has spoken to me briefly in the past about this girl in her class who seemed to be searching for the Lord. After the church service, Dad made arrangements to go see Pauline on Tuesday. I wasn’t feeling well yesterday, and Mom had things she needed to do, so Lydia accompanied Dad. They picked Shelby up, and then headed to Pauline’s home.

To make a long story short, Pauline got saved! Dad said it was beautiful to see her so open. Dad hadn’t even finished telling her his testimony and she was already crying. I’ve been praying throughout this day that God will make a way that Pauline won’t have to work on Sundays and Wednesdays so she can come to church. It bothers me that so many people get saved and then never do anything about it. They seem to sink right back into the miry pit of the world from which they were rescued. I don’t want Pauline to be one of those people. Would you pray with me for Pauline’s spiritual growth? I’d really appreciate that! =)

Hi Mary!

Wow! I haven't heard from you in quite some time. I was reading your comment, and suddenly it dawned on me that it was you. Lol. I thought your name looked familiar. =) What a dummy I am!

I'm glad to hear you've been reading my blogs and they have been an encouragement to you. That's great to hear.

I hope you're doing well now that you are back in the States. I know Mrs. Lutrick misses you. She mentioned you several times while they were here in May.

(yawn) Okay, I need to be heading for bed. God bless and take care!
