A Busy Saturday

My time with the Lord this morning was a blessing. Two years ago Dad got me My Utmost For His Highest for Christmas. I try to read either that devotional or Morning and Evening every day along with my Bible reading (I’m starting Job). Today I read today’s passage of My Utmost For His Highest, but I also read tomorrow’s passage. I’m hoping to post it tomorrow; it really spoke to my heart.

After my personal devotions I checked my email. I was excited to get two emails, one from each of my two dear friends. Email is so fun!!! Then I headed downstairs and had a nice talk with Mom and Lydia while I ate my breakfast. Every morning we share interesting tidbits from the emails we receive. Email is a missionary’s social life. =)

I cleaned the kitchen, got myself ready for the day, and then practiced the songs for church tomorrow; I’ll be playing alone again, because Mischa is preaching at the Kamps’ church. Mom asked me to printed off some coloring pictures for Sunday school, so I did that. Steven is going to be teaching about the Good Shepherd.

Dad got home from being out with the Lord, and we both got ourselves ready to head for Amsterdam Central Station for street preaching. When I woke up this morning I decided I was going to go. I didn’t go on Thursday because we were expecting bad weather; I felt a mite guilty about that.

Dad ate an egg and toast that Mom made him, and when Mom found out that I hadn’t eaten lunch she gave me half of her egg sandwich. It was delicious! Then Dad and I quickly headed for the door. We rode to Central Station on the train; I love riding on the train. It’s so relaxing, and I like the rocking motion. Dad studied his message for tomorrow, and I went over some verses.

Street preaching was good. Denny, David, and Oscar, a man who’s been visiting our church, were already at our usual spot when Dad and I walked up. Denny and David told us about their time in Belgium. I bunch of people from our church rented a summer house, so the guys were full of news about the great time they had. It was fun just to listen to them. Hugo rode up on his bike, and Mischa came a little later on. I held the banner for a while, but then the wind picked up and I just about blew over with the banner, so Dad stepped in for me. Oscar held the other end. I got a lot of tracts out. That was a blessing. Central Stations is such a mad house; I like street preaching in Almere better, I think. As we headed back to the train station joy flood my soul. I love serving the Lord! I’m so glad I went! (To read more about our street preaching experiences, visit my Open-Air Preaching blog!)

Mom and Dad met with Mischa to talk about some things later in the day. Meanwhile Lydia and I walked to the store so I could get stuff to make Sunday dinner for tomorrow. I wanted to make strawberry shortcake for dessert, but the one package of strawberries still on the shelf looked as though it had seen better days. I love going to the grocery store and not being able to buy what I need! We got home and I started cooking. After finishing the spaghetti sauce, I made biscuits for the shortcake (hoping Mom and Dad would pick up strawberries from some other store on their way home), and then cleaned up the kitchen.

At that point I was wishing for a good, hearty dinner. Lydia made us eggs and toast, and we watched a Waltons while we ate. Mom and Dad arrived home a bit later. After dinner I wrote some emails, and then retired for the night. I was pretty tired.
