Happy Birthday, Lydia!!!

Hello, people! Lydia, my darling little sister, had a birthday today. She turned 19! I can't believe it! Anyway, I'm going to share some pictures and give commentary about the day as I go along.

Me and Nathan, my little buddy, having a "conversation" before church. Daniel, his big brother (age 3), walked into church all bundled up in his big winter coat, holding his little Bible case, and showing everyone his hurt finger. He held it up for me to see, while exclaiming "pijn, pijn (pain)." Then when I knelt down to talk to him and asked what happened, he jabbered off in indiscernible baby talk and finally finished with the word, "zeer! (sore)" "Zeer pijn!" Poor little kid! He was bleeding a little. I helped him out of his coat and took off his little cap. I love that little kid! He gave me a kiss on the cheek before he and his parents left church. Cutie!

Nathan, my little sweetie pie. Isn't he SO cute?! He likes to be hugged but likes it better when he's allowed to run free with the other little kids. He smiles much more than he used to, and his favorite game is peek-a-boo. If he's got the Sunday morning grouchies, and you can't get him to smile, you can use peek-a-boo as a last resort and that usually does the trick.

Be very afraid!!! (chuckle) Friends and family who know me well know that when I'm tired I go through two stages. First I'm in a very good mood, teasing and laughing about everything or just nothing, and then I reach the second stage and become very grouchy. The joke is that I turn into a witch. Lydia, pretending to be me, grabs the vacuum cleaner stick, and, pretending it's her broom, "rides" it, walking up and down and making these terrible laughing noises. She does the act so well that it really makes you wonder...... Ha, ha, ha! Anyway, so that's just one of many things that I get teased about.
I found this big black pot in the kitchen at church and thought I'd do some acting of my own. So, this is me with my "witch's cauldron," making toad soup...or something like that. As I said, be very afraid!!! (chuckle)

Lydia's beautifully wrapped gifts. What could be inside??? =)
Lydia's black-bottom birthday cake on the "vibrant" tablecloth, which Mom bought especially for the occasion. Lydia loves vibrant colors. Lydia is...Lydia! There's nobody like her, and we love her for the unique person she is. They say it's what makes the world go round. (chuckle) So, in that case, I wouldn't want to interfere! The cake tasted great, by the way!

When we got home from church, Lydia had to beautify herself, so while we were waiting I got some pictures of Josiah eyeing the cake...both cakes. In this picture he's looking at the birthday cake card I made for Lydia.
The birthday girl! We sang 'Happy Birthday' to Lydia, and then she blew out the candles...but not all 19 in one breath. Josiah teased her about being 19 and still not being able to blow them out. Hey, for being such an old lady, I think she's entitled to being short of breath. (chuckle)

Lydia opened her gifts, and she was especially thrilled with her Willow Tree "Joy" figurine, "Joy" being her middle name. My birthday present was a deep purple blouse.

It was snowing as we drove home from church. I think one of my favorite things is seeing little white snowflakes hitting the windshield. I LOVE snow! In fact, everyone in our house loves snow. I think this was the Lord's special birthday gift to Lydia. If Holland ever gets snow, it usually comes in March, so to have snow before Thanksgiving is unheard of. Praise the Lord! The Lord is good!!!
During the afternoon Lyd opened her gifts, we ate cake, watched a Christmas Waltons while eating dinner, which consisted of chicken quesadillas, corn chips, rice, salad, and all the toppings, and then at 6 p.m. we went to church in Panama City, FL! The preaching was a blessing! After briefly talking with the 3 boys and saying a quick "hello" to Bro. Buddy and Mrs. Chris, we bundled up and went for a walk, crunching through the snow under a dark, starry sky. It was so much fun!!!

I personally think this is the prize picture of the day. Of all the pictures, this one is my favorite. I love my little sister. She is the prettiest, cutest, sweetest, most selfless, absolutely loving sister in the world.
Happy 19th Birthday, Lydia! I love you!
