The Dining Room

After uploading pictures of the kitchen I realized I forgot to take a picture of the reason for a kitchen---the fridge! Our refrigerator is right across from the stove and just outside our bedroom. Russell likes it that way. LOL! =D

There she be! If you've ever been in my mom's kitchen you'll notice that I kinda have mine set up like hers. I'm so used to having things in a certain spot that it just worked out best that way. I've even got onions in a basket on top of the fridge. Like mother, like daughter!

Across from the kitchen area and one step up is our little dining area.

This is what the dining area looked like BEFORE...

...And this is AFTER. I found this table and chair set on Craig's List for an excellent price. The chairs need a little paint, and the table has a few marks on it, but it is extremely sturdy. I love it!!!

You probably recognize the cherry table cloth I cross-stitched. When we flew into the States for the wedding Russell bought me this Yankee Candle--Strawberry Buttercream--at Cracker Barrel, and then a family in our church here gave us the same candle as part of their wedding gift. We almost burnt the whole thing during our honeymoon. The candle in this collage is the one Russell gave me. I'm trying to make it last. It smells sooooo yummy!

This cherry picture is from Old Time Pottery too. Lydia found it when we first went to the store back in October and coaxed Russell to buy it for me. I just got my hubby to hang it for me. Expecting company gets things done that would otherwise sit for a while, so thank God for company!!! ;)

Here is the messy-looking little nook behind the fridge. I store our food in that little closet and on top are all my herbs, vitamins, and medications. That's also where I keep the cooler. All my extra baking utensils, plasticware, and storage bags/plastic wrap/tin foil are kept in the plastic drawers. The basket on top holds my coupons, shopping lists, and to-do lists, etc.

The Kamps family gave us this cute clock for our wedding. You can partly see into our bedroom in the right picture.

Looking from the living room into the dining room...

Looking from the dining room into the living room...what you can see of it, anyway.

I think this picture gives a pretty good idea of how the house is set up. The house is long and skinny.

This is one piece of kitchen equipment I love!!! My good ol' crock pot!

Next...the living room!

Hannah! I love your home!!! How fun it must be to fix it up to your heart's desire. =) You've added so many lovely touches to everything. The house really is set up cute for being a trailer. The pillars around the dining room, the "one step up," the shelves between the living room and dining room add really nice touches. I love the ivy you've wrapped around the pillars. And I'm so happy the Lord let you get a good deal on the table and chairs! I see the quilt you bought back in Holland. You mentioned then that you would hang it across the back of your couch, and there it is! =) It is SO pretty!

Your kitchen is perfect, Hannah. Cherries, cherries everywhere! I'm so excited to see it at last! You've made it into such a sweet heart of your home. I really like your tin cans. Mom has had a collection for many years. She found some "new" ones at an antique store in Georgia. I count 26 sitting on top of our kitchen cupboards! Your Dutch towels look wonderful. That reminds me of something Dutch I found (also at the antique shop): Dutch-made, blue china salt and pepper shakers in the shape of cows! I love them!!! They even have little windmills painted on the sides.

I have to admit, I love washing dishes. I think it's SO relaxing! With our family of six our pile really grows throughout the day (though I try to keep it tidy), especially when I do baking that day, so I'm always eager to get the kitchen back in order every evening. =) We use the dishwasher only when we're really busy because it tends to use a lot of water (which is expensive), plus it has some real issues! =D

Oh, I wish I could just drop by for a visit and see your lovely home and my dear, lovely friend in person. (sigh) Thank you so for sharing this peek into your home. Your hospitality is heart-warming, dear sister! =)

Love and prayers,

Naomi
